Top European national team return into action on Friday as they continue to battle their way through the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, and there are several potential surprises on the cards.

Italy and Spain are away to Armenia and Belarus respectively, whereas Croatia visit FYR Macedonia. Germany could face a tough task in Dublin, as could Turkey at home against Romania.

Do you expect any of the top sides to fail this time?

I am sure Germany and Turkey will have no problems beating their opponents, but I do believe FYR Macedonia have what it takes to surprise Croatia. Also, Italy and Spain face tricky ties against former Soviet republics.

It appears Turkey were the only one to disappoint on Friday, but we could see some more surprises on Tuesday. Potential shocks could be Bosnia vs Lithuania, Romania vs Netherlands, Iceland vs Switzerland, FYR Macedonia vs Serbia and Belgium vs Scotland.

Well, FYR Macedonia certainly shocked Serbia, who were well below par on the night, but Northern Ireland taking point in Portugal has got to be considered the biggest shock. Also, it is fair to say not too many people expected France to escape defeat in Spain.
